Shinagawa Aquarium Special Exhibition Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture: The City's Character, Kagayaku. The Learning Center of the Sea". Held from May 11! Sakai City introduces "The Sea of Fukui

The Shinagawa Aquarium (Shinagawa, Tokyo; Director: Takeshi Futami) will hold a special exhibition, "Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture: The Nature of the City, Kagayaku. The Learning Center of the Sea" will be held for eight days from May 11 (Sat.) to 19 (Sun.) (excluding days the aquarium is closed).

Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture, and Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo, have been implementing a cooperative project since fiscal year 2015, triggered by the National Cooperation Project. This project was born out of the "aquarium connection" between the Echizen Matsushima Aquarium in Sakai City and the Shinagawa Aquarium, and this will be the third time it has been held. Echizen Matsushima Aquarium will send Echizen crab, abalone and sea urchin for display, and Fukui Prefecture will provide cultured fish such as mahata and tiger puffer, for which Fukui Prefecture is making an effort.

We hope that visitors to the exhibition will feel familiar with Sakai City, and at the same time, we will provide an opportunity for visitors to learn about the connection between Sakai City and Shinagawa Ward.

Echizen Crab "Kyoku

In this special exhibition, a white specimen of the king of winter delicacies, the Echizen crab "Kyoku" (carapace width 14.5 cm, weight over 1.5 kg), will be on display, allowing visitors to learn about the ecology of the crab, and panels will explain the work of divers in Sakai City.

In addition, "cultivated fisheries" will be introduced through an exhibit of farmed fish from Fukui Prefecture (tiger puffer, mahata, etc.), and an event using the RICOH Paper App will be held at the same time, in which fish drawn on paper will swim across the wall surface. In addition, a PR video of Sakai City will be aired.

An opening event will be held on Saturday, May 11, the first day of the event.

Sakai Hoyamaru, the official character of Sakai City, will make his first appearance in Tokyo, and will be joined by popular characters from the Shinagawa Ward shopping district to add a touch of color to the venue!

Free amaebi soup will be distributed (limited to 150 servings), Sakai City's famous sweets will be rolled, and a temporary Sakai City antenna store in Togoshiginza Shopping Arcade in Shinagawa Ward will be open.

Contents: 1. Sakai Hoyamaru, the official character of Sakai City, makes his first public appearance in Tokyo.

　　　2. Greeting with popular characters from the Shinagawa Ward shopping district and "Shinafin" will also make an appearance.

　　　3. Sakai City's famous sweets maki (amaebi kagayaki: Echizen Kaisen Club, Gotsukkase, etc.)

　　　　Characters will appear at the "Meikamaki" from 11:00 a.m. and at the meet and greet from 1:00 p.m.

　　　　*"Sweets Maki" will end when all the sweets are gone.
