This study examines the sterilizing and cleaning effects and efficacy of super alkaline electrolyzed water as advocated on the Web and other media, as a joint research project of Zeno Co.


Properties of super alkaline electrolyzed water

SAW (=ZENON special alkaline electrolyzed water) may have a bactericidal effect by inactivating coronaviruses and inhibiting the growth of E. coli, etc., due to its strong basicity, and it has been confirmed through joint commissioned experiments by Zenon Corporation (Nara Medical University) that it has a washing effect for grease and oil, etc. SAW is expected to be a new cleaning agent with both cleaning and sterilizing effects. Purpose/Overview

In order to solve environmental problems caused by domestic wastewater, it is expected that super-alkaline electrolyzed water generated from water and potassium carbonate will be used for cleaning as a substitute for chemical agents. The cleaning and disinfection effects were verified in comparison with those of "alcohol" and "chemical detergents" actually used in restaurants serving local cuisine.


Results/Discussion

Super alkaline electrolyzed water is considered to have an antimicrobial effect equivalent to that of 78% alcohol, depending on the material of the object. As a future prospect, we will verify the washing effect of super alkaline electrolyzed water and pursue the differences in washing and sterilizing effects seen in different types of stains, such as protein stains and lipid stains. <<Figure 2
