Background of the "3D Printer Home Loan" Commercialization

As Japan's first 3D printer housing manufacturer, Serendix has been an industry pioneer in the development of 3D printer housing products, starting with the 10m2 type "serendix10" in 2022 and the "serendix50" for two-person households in 2023.

On the other hand, as a new technology with little experience in Japan, there were no applicable mortgage loans for 3D printed houses, which was a major limitation for their purchase. Orico and Serendix have collaborated to address this issue with the aim of realizing a society where people can purchase houses more freely, and have commercialized the "3D Printer Mortgage Loan" ahead of its full-scale mass production in the future.

Outline of the "3D Printer Mortgage Loan

The "3D Printer Mortgage Loan" is an unsecured consumer loan for the purchase of homes provided by Serendix. Regional financial institutions will provide this loan, and Orico will serve as the guarantor for the regional financial institutions. The loan is available to individual customers, with a maximum loan amount of ¥10 million and a loan term of up to 15 years. The amount and term of this loan are compactly set to match the price of 3D printed houses sold by Serendix.

In the future, we plan to start offering small business loans to corporate and sole proprietor customers as well. The maximum application amount for corporate and sole proprietor customers will be 5 million yen and the maximum loan term will be 5 years. (The service is scheduled to begin in mid-May.)

The UI design related to the sale of this loan will utilize the mechanism of Cloud Loan Corporation ( https://crowdloan.jp ), which will partner with Orico from July 2021.

Hitoshi Kasama, Managing Executive Officer of Orico's Financial Institutions Division, comments

We met with Serendix at the Nikkei Superior Products and Services Award 2023 ceremony in February of this year, and launched this project as an initiative that will not only reduce costs and time, but also contribute to sustainable community development, including addressing the shortage of human resources due to the aging of the construction industry. In our mid-term management plan, which places sustainability at the core of our management, we will continue to create value from the customer's perspective, using "GREEN," "DIGITAL," and "OPEN INNOVATION" as our starting points to contribute to society and enhance our corporate value.

Serendix Corporation COO Kunio Iida commented

Our mission is to realize a society where people can buy a house for the price of a car. We met Orico at the award ceremony for the Nikkei Superior Products and Services Award 2023 in February this year. We shared our mutual aspirations, and in just two months, this initiative was realized. We expect that the "3D Printer Mortgage Loan," which gives customers freedom of choice, will greatly contribute to the spread of 3D printed houses in the future.
