Event-Based Vision Cameras Application Idea and Algorithm Contest for Students and Researchers begins on April 10

CenturyArks Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Takeshi Saito) is pleased to announce that we hold a contest for students and researchers to challenge to come up with ideas and algorithms for the utilizations of the SilkyEvCam(R), an event-based vision camera that captures only changes in luminance. Entries will be accepted from Wednesday, April 10, 2024.

This contest is a new step forward in the field of image processing. Entrants will demonstrate the results of their studies and research to date and use an event-based vision camera to solve familiar and social problems with a new approach that is not available with conventional frame cameras. In addition, a seminar for those who are will be using this camera for the first time will be held.

[Contest Outline]

■Entry and Submission Periods （Japan Time, JST）

-Entry period: Wednesday, April 10, 2024 - Wednesday, July 31, 2024

-Sunmission period: Monday, July 1, 2024 - Tuesday, September 10, 2024

*The contest applicant (or the entrant representative if applying as a team or group) will be loaned one of "SilkyEvCam(R)(VGA)," an entry-level model of the "SilkyEvCam(R)".

*If the total number of entries reaches the expected number, we may close the entry even during the entry period.

■Eligible entrants

-National, public and private undergraduate/graduate students, technical college students, vocational college students and their student teams

-Young researchers/research teams from universities/related institutions, other research organizations, etc.

■Contents to be required to submit for this contest

1) Ideas and its Algorithms using the event-based vision camera "SilkyEvCam(R)

2) Video(s) and/or @prototype(s) (implemented work) delivered from the item 1)

*Situations/scenes/methods utilizing the application are also proposed and included in submissions.

■Awards and Prizes

-[Grand Prize] Number of Awards: 1

Prize money of 100,000 Japanese yen and winner's submitted work will be posted on a specialized magazine, etc.

-[Excellence Award] Number of  Awards: 1

Prize money of 50,000 Japanese yen and winner's submitted work will be posted on a specialized magazine, etc.

-[Century Arcs Award] Number of Awards: 1 

Prize money of 30,000 Japanese yen

The result will be scheduled to announce in the end of November or early December, 2024.
