What is "Anpo persimmon"?

Hiratanenashi persimmon" is the raw material for Anpo persimmon.

Anpo persimmon is called the original Japanese confectionery. The only ingredient of Anpo persimmon is persimmon. We do not use any sugar or additives other than Wakayama persimmons. By performing a "certain processing" on the peeled persimmons one by one, the soft dried persimmon is finished with a whopping 60% water content left. It is characterized by a surprisingly elegant sweetness.

Drying persimmons weighing 70g or more in the sun

It is the natural sunlight, the sun's rays. In the distant past, in the Edo period, persimmons were peeled, hung in nets, and dried in the sun, which was named "Amahoshi persimmon" and came to be called "Anpo persimmon" during the Meiji Restoration. This is the origin of the name "Anpo persimmon," which is said to be the original Japanese confectionery.

When dried, the moisture in persimmons evaporates and the flavor and sweetness of the persimmon increases. Because of this, only large persimmons (4L-5L size) weighing 70 grams or more are selected for use.

The decisive difference from other dried persimmons is this "melt-in-your-mouth" sensation. The sweetness of the fluffy, fluffy persimmons spreads in your mouth because about 60% of the water content has been left in the persimmon. Despite its sweetness and deliciousness, the only ingredient used is persimmon, a natural snack.
