Kojimachi Gakuen Girls' Junior and Senior High School (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Principal: Chiaki Horiguchi) is pleased to announce that 51 students in the Toyo University Global Course, a high school entrance examination course, have been accepted by Toyo University for the 2024 academic year, with 62% of our students going on to higher education.

The number of students who passed the entrance exam of Toyo University Global Course in the academic year 2023 is 51, which is 62% of the total number of students who passed the entrance exam of Toyo University.

Background

Facing the evolution and spread of AI, globalization, and a declining working-age population due to a declining birthrate, the government is promoting "high school-university connection reform" in order to develop human resources who can cope with such a society. For example, in university entrance examinations, AO (admission office) examinations have been changed to "comprehensive type selection" and recommendation examinations have been changed to "school recommendation type selection," both of which require the use of tests to measure academic ability.

In addition, the individual examinations conducted by each university are now designed to comprehensively evaluate three elements of academic ability: "knowledge and skills," "ability to think, judge, and express oneself," and "attitude toward learning with independence and in cooperation with diverse people. In the past, entrance examinations focused on "knowledge and skills," but due to changes in the industrial structure resulting from the spread and evolution of AI, students are now required to have problem-solving skills and other abilities that will enable them to live in society.

In this context, our school was quick to establish a system that enables students with "high motivation for learning," "a clear sense of purpose in learning," and "a certain level of academic ability" to smoothly advance to the university of their first choice.

About Toyo University Global Course

In 2016, our school and Toyo University signed an inter-school educational partnership agreement in order to revitalize our educational system through continuous and progressive learning based on our mutual shared educational vision.

Based on this collaborative agreement, the "Toyo University Global Course," established in 2017, is a system that allows students to enter Toyo University if they meet certain criteria. The course provides students with sustainable and developable learning without being restricted by university entrance examinations, and develops education to nurture human resources who can confidently go out into the world.

We are pleased to announce that 51 students in the fifth class of the "Toyo University Global Course" have been accepted by Toyo University. This represents 62% of the students in this course.
