About Hokuto City and Wine

Yamanashi Prefecture is one of the oldest wine-producing regions in Japan.

Hokuto City, located in the northwestern part of Yamanashi Prefecture, is surrounded on all sides by mountains such as the Yatsugatake Mountains and the Southern Alps, and is home to three locations that have been selected as one of Japan's 100 best waters. Since this certification, Hokuto City has seen an increase in the number of small wineries producing high quality wines and the creation of a new related population.

However, information dissemination has been limited to wineries, so in order to promote the city's wines as a whole, Hokuto City has launched an information website that consolidates and communicates the appeal of Hokuto wines. In addition, media representatives were invited to participate in a familiarization tour. Through these efforts, Hokuto City aims to increase interest in the city's wineries and spread the word about the city's rich natural environment and culture to as many people as possible who are interested in wine and food culture.
