About Hokuto City and Wine
Yamanashi Prefecture is one of the oldest wine-producing regions in Japan.
Hokuto City, located in the northwestern part of Yamanashi Prefecture, is surrounded on all sides by mountains such as the Yatsugatake Mountains and the Southern Alps, and is home to three locations that have been selected as one of Japan's 100 best waters. Since this certification, Hokuto City has seen an increase in the number of small wineries producing high quality wines and the creation of a new related population.
However, information dissemination has been limited to wineries, so in order to promote the city's wines as a whole, Hokuto City has launched an information website that consolidates and communicates the appeal of Hokuto wines. In addition, media representatives were invited to participate in a familiarization tour. Through these efforts, Hokuto City aims to increase interest in the city's wineries and spread the word about the city's rich natural environment and culture to as many people as possible who are interested in wine and food culture.
Fam tours...are tours that invite media representatives, influencers, and others to visit the site in order to promote the attraction of tourist attractions.
Characteristics of Hokuto City Wine
In areas designated as "special wine zones," minimum production volume standards are relaxed, making it easier for small businesses to enter the wine production business. This has led to an increase in the number of small wineries in Hokuto City, and this in turn has made it possible to enjoy a variety of wines with different characteristics at each winery. In addition, Hokuto wines are rarely sold on the market, making them rare and highly valued wines.
The familiarization tour "HOKUTO WINE TOURISM with a sommelier" held this time
Hokuto City has organized a two day and one night familiarization tour "HOKUTO WINE TOURISM with a Sommelier" to provide the media with information about wine and wineries in the city's rich natural environment and its unique charms, such as its natural environment and culture. HOKUTO WINE TOURISM" was held. Five people from five companies, including wine influencers, participated in the tour. They toured the city's vineyards and wineries with a sommelier and experienced the quality and unique appeal of Hokuto City wines through tours, harvesting, tasting, wine seminars, and marriage with local foods.
Upcoming Tours
Hokuto City plans to back up businesses that offer tours that make the most of regional characteristics, such as vineyard tours with sommeliers against a backdrop of beautiful mountains, winery tours, and tours in collaboration with local cultural facilities.
While envisioning participation not only by wine lovers, but also by women and their parents and children, we aim to broaden the enjoyment of wine and provide an opportunity to create special memories with family and friends.
In the future, Hokuto City aims to promote the affinity between Hokuto wine and tourism, and to strengthen brand recognition both in Japan and abroad.
