A series of public transportation service cuts and closures affect hospital visits Free denture consultation on 4/16 (Thu) at Asahikawa Station Square, convenient for transit
コンフォート入れ歯クリニック
Public transportation services have been reduced one after another in many areas due to a shortage of crews. With access to medical facilities also greatly affected, Comfort Denture Clinic (Head office: Sapporo, Hokkaido; President and Director: Akira Ikeda), which specializes in denture treatment, will hold a free denture consultation on April 16, 2026 (Thursday) at the station square in front of Asahikawa Station, which is often used as a transit station. In addition to providing consultation on issues such as ill-fitting dentures, pain, and concerns about making dentures for the first time, the event will also include cleaning of dentures with an ultrasonic device and cloud storage of 3D data in case of sudden loss. Based on information such as where visitors live, we will also conduct a survey of areas where future on-site clinics are needed.

Consultation in a mobile clinic microbus
The number of buses has been decreasing and the number of people in the aging population has been decreasing.
In Hokkaido, which covers a vast area, some bus companies have discontinued 6 routes and reduced 173 buses from April 2026. Furthermore, in some areas, trains have been discontinued, greatly affecting daily life and access to medical facilities.

Comfort Dentures Clinic in Sapporo will hold an on-site denture consultation on April 16, 2026 (Thursday) at the station square of Asahikawa Station, which is often used as a transit station. Both consultations are free of charge and will be conducted on board our mobile microbuses. At the consultation, you can consult with a dentist with 32 years of experience in denture treatment and our dental hygienist about problems such as pain, dislocation, and other minor issues that you may feel are not worth a visit to a dental clinic, such as questions about having dentures made for the first time. Other services include demonstrations on how to properly care for your dentures, and cleaning accumulated denture stains with an ultrasonic device. In case of loss or damage that occurs in daily life, you can call us and we can store your shape data in the cloud in advance so that we can make you a new denture in a few days. If treatment is needed, appointments for visits to the clinic will be accepted. Information such as the location of the visitor's residence can also be used to survey areas that will require future visits for on-site treatment.

Microbus that enables on-site treatment
It is normal for a patient to spend 10 hours for a hospital visit! Elderly people are worried about their future in 10 years.
Our patients live all over Hokkaido, including Wakkanai City in the north, Nemuro City in the east, and Hakodate City in the south. The reason for holding this event was a request from a patient from northern and eastern Hokkaido who said, "I want to reduce the number of treatments because it is difficult to commute from Wakkanai. I want all the treatment I can do today, even if it takes longer," and "Please do it in time for the express bus. Some patients travel 5 to 6 hours from home to visit the clinic, as it takes about 1.5 hours by train or 2 hours by bus from northern or eastern Hokkaido to Sapporo City after changing trains at Asahikawa Station. Some of the elderly patients are concerned about their physical fitness for regular visits to the clinic.
Many first-time visitors to our clinic have deteriorating teeth and gums. They have been patient because there are no dental clinics nearby and it takes time to visit the clinic. The increase in the number of denturist-less districts due to the closure of dental clinics and the decrease in the number of dentists who can provide denture treatment, which requires skill and experience, have had an impact on the situation.
Dentists drive their own microbuses from north to south.
The vehicle used for the consultation sessions is a used microbus that has been modified to be able to go to the increasing number of dentist-less areas and provide in-vehicle treatment. It is equipped with a solar power generation system so that it can provide treatment and electricity in disaster-stricken areas in the event of a disaster. it began operation in september 2024, and free consultations were held on the premises of a pharmacy in Ishikari City.
Representative's voice: "Unlike internal medicine and surgery, dentistry tends to be more patient. Especially in the case of dentures, people tend to put it off because it is not a cavity, even if the gums become thin and the shape does not fit anymore and chewing becomes painful. However, eating is directly related to health, and we will continue our efforts to eliminate regional disparities in denture treatment."
The event will also be held on Thursday, May 14 and Thursday, May 28 from 10:00 to 16:00 at the plaza in front of Asahikawa Station.
