The king of citrus fruits with a melt-in-your-mouth texture and rich, juicy flavor Setoka no Shizuku," the king of citrus fruits with a melt-in-your-mouth texture and rich, juicy flavor, encased in amber sugar Kyoto Eirakuya will sell it from March 1 for a limited time only.
株式会社永楽屋
Eirakuya Corporation (Headquarters: Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture; President: Yoshihiro Saida; hereafter "Eirakuya"), operator of Eirakuya, a Kyoto confectionery and tsukudani (food boiled down in soy sauce), will begin limited sales of amber sugar "Setoka no Shizuku" on March 1 (Sunday).
Eirakuya's confectionary artisans have handcrafted this seasonal amber sugar to lock in the rare fragrance and rich fruit of the "king of citrus fruits," the Setoka no Shizuku.

Setoka no Shizuku

Setoka
Setoka is a crossbreed of Kiyomi, Encore, and Marcotte, with a high sugar content of 13-14 degrees and a distinctly sweet taste. It is characterized by its high sugar content of 13 to 14 degrees, and its sweetness is outstanding. The texture of Setoka melts in your mouth, and its juicy flavor fills your mouth with delight.
Its sweetness can be felt directly due to its low acidity, and it has been described as "the richest and sweetest citrus fruit". It is popular as a sweet, juicy, high-end citrus, but it is a labor-intensive variety to cultivate.
The Setoka tree has numerous sharp thorns, making it extremely difficult to cultivate, and it is said to be harder to grow than other citrus fruits. Because of its low production and limited distribution, it is a valuable citrus that is difficult to obtain even when it is in season.
The melt-in-your-mouth texture and rich, fresh aroma of Setoka pulp are carefully handcrafted by Eirakuya's confectioners.
The outside is crispy, while the inside melts in the mouth, and the aroma of the fruit can be enjoyed as it is.
This seasonal amber sugar combines Eirakuya's traditional techniques with seasonal citrus fruits.

Company Profile
Eirakuya
Established in 1946. We deal in both sweet (Kyoto sweets) and savory (Kyoto tsukudani).
Although seemingly a relative combination, both are food colorings that go well with "tea and rice," which are indispensable for Japanese people.
Each has its own signature products, such as "Kohaku," an agar candy that is particular about its beauty, and "Hitotokuchi Shiitake," a tsukudani made from domestically grown log shiitake mushrooms.
