Senju, the birthplace of Adachi Seiwa Shinkin Bank (Head office: Senju, Adachi-ku, Tokyo; President: Takeshi Tsuchiya), was designated as the first inn (first inn station) on the Nikko/Oshu Kaido highway in 1625, when the five highway routes were established. The town will mark the 400th anniversary of its opening in 2025. The Bank, together with the Adachi Branch of the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI), in cooperation with local businesses and organizations, is holding the "Senju-juku 400th Anniversary Festival" throughout the year to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the opening of the Senju-juku.

Tokyo University of the Arts, which also has a campus in Senju, Adachi-ku, will create a video featuring people and scenery related to Senju and project it on the wall of the Adachi Seiwa Shinkin Bank head office building!

■Jiguchi Andon Night

Approximately 300 "Jiguchi Andon" made by elementary and high school students in Adachi Ward will be installed at the following five locations to light up the night of Senju!

Jiguchi" in "Jiguchi Andon" means a play on words and is a kind of pun. Jiguchi" is a kind of pun. Jiguchi Andon is a play on words (jiguchi), which is a play on proverbs and lines from plays, etc., painted on and made into an andon (paper lantern). The term "andon" refers to a type of lighting fixture in which a circular or square wooden or bamboo frame is covered with paper and an oil dish is placed inside to light a fire.
