Bodaiju Co.
Bodaiju Corporation (Head office: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Keisuke Yoshida), operator of Katsukichi, a tonkatsu specialty restaurant that has been in business for over 60 years, will begin offering a seasonal menu item, "Fried Oysters from Toba Arashima" on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
Fresh Fried Oysters Made with Traditional Method
The "Toba Arashima Oyster Fries," a winter specialty of Katsukichi, a bounty from Ise Bay, is a winter delicacy made with fresh raw oysters delivered from Toyosu Market every morning, wrapped in the finest fresh breadcrumbs, and deep-fried to a crisp. It is a long-selling product that has been loved by customers for about 60 years since Katsuyoshi's opening.
The raw oysters grown on the island of Arashima in Toba have a fresh aroma and little bitterness, and when fried, their delicious flavor spreads in the mouth. Oysters peeled on site arrive at Toyosu Market the next morning and are delivered to Katsukichi restaurants that morning. The oysters are the result of the blessings of the clean sea and the love of the producers.
The characteristic of Katsukichi's "fried oysters" is to combine several oysters into one "big fry. The batter is crispy and the oysters are juicy. The oyster's flavor and deliciousness can be enjoyed even more by eating it with "sea salt" and a squeeze of lemon, as well as with tonkatsu sauce with mustard and a generous amount of tartar sauce.
We value freshness, so we may sell out. We recommend ordering as soon as possible. Please feel free to call our staff to place a hold on your order.
