Edu-Technology Co. (Head Office: Koto-ku, Tokyo; President: Yoshihiro Sakagami), which provides consultation services to school boards and schools nationwide on the selection and use of ICT equipment, has been selected by Murata Manufacturing Co. (Head Office: Nagaokakyo-shi, Kyoto; President: Norihiro Nakajima), in collaboration with Murata Manufacturing and The Kitasato Institute (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Yasushi Asari), as an adopted company for the "KUMIHIMO Tech Camp with Murata" 2023 fiscal year, will create a case study on mental health measures for teachers, and will conduct an "education on-site training" program as part of efforts to optimize school organizational management. As part of efforts to optimize organizational management, "Visualization of Fatigue and Stress Levels in the Education Field" will be conducted with the cooperation of schools.

This empirical study is based on data visualizing the balance of autonomic nerves related to stress (stress level) and deviation of autonomic functions related to fatigue (fatigue) using the MF100 fatigue-stress meter provided by Murata Manufacturing, and by capturing the actual situation from the perspective of medical experts and obtaining appropriate evidence, We aim to promote the health of teachers by obtaining appropriate evidence.

Background of the Empirical Study

In today's educational field, the workload of each teacher is increasing more than ever in order to respond quickly and accurately to diverse and complex educational issues. In the measures in the MEXT's "Comprehensive Policy on Environmental Improvement for Securing High-Quality Teachers for Japanese-Style School Education in 2021," one of the measures for 4. Enhancing Efforts to Ensure Teachers' Health and Welfare (Chapter 3: Further Acceleration of Workplace Reform in Schools) is the "creation of examples of mental health measures for each and every teacher" and the "creation of examples of mental health measures for each and every teacher. One of the measures mentioned is "creation of case studies on mental health measures for each teacher" and "development of occupational health and safety management systems in schools.

Purpose of the Empirical Study

Edu-Technology believes that obtaining appropriate evidence based on the balance of teachers' autonomic nervous system and deviation of autonomic functions may lead to the development of an occupational health and safety management system in schools, and has decided to launch the "Visualization of Fatigue and Stress Levels in Educational Settings Using the Fatigue Stress Meter MF100" in cooperation with schools. We have decided to launch the "Visualization of Fatigue/Stress Levels at Educational Sites Using the MF100 Fatigue Stress Meter.

In this demonstration, Edu-Technology and Murata Manufacturing are involved in a research project led by the Kitasato Research Institute (a research group led by Dr. Muto, a lecturer at Kitasato University School of Medicine, Department of Hygiene and Preventive Medicine). The goal is to clarify the actual situation in the field from the Kitasato Institute's medical perspective to the point where appropriate evidence can be obtained.

In the future, Edu-Technology is also considering continuing the demonstration of its effectiveness in solving issues such as the creation of cases related to teachers' mental health measures and whether it can lead to the optimization of school organizational management.

■Outline of Joint Research

The Kitasato Institute is leading this demonstration study, which envisions the following operations: 1.

1. data input by teachers on health conditions and other data, and measurement of fatigue and stress levels

During the period (off-peak and peak season), teachers will be asked to measure autonomic balance and deviation of autonomic function with the Fatigue Stress Meter MF100 for 3 days (maximum 2 times per day), and on specific days, they will answer questionnaires (sleeping hours, alcohol consumption, occupational stress brief questionnaire, Pittsburgh sleep questionnaire, etc.).

2. sharing reports visualized by the Fatigue Stress Meter MF100 (individual reflections)

We will share reports (not tied to personal information) visualizing data on autonomic balance and deviations in autonomic function with teachers who cooperated in the study upon request.

3. compare data trends between teachers and general corporate employees, and verify the effectiveness of subjective and objective evaluation methods.

This survey will be conducted both in educational settings (schools) and in general labor settings (companies). The Kitasato Institute will compare data trends and verify the effects of subjective and objective evaluation methods. The findings from the survey will be presented at medical conferences such as the 33rd Japanese Society for Occupational Stress Research in 2025 and in papers.
