Background of Development

The 17th World Wushu Championships, the highest level international competition in the sport of Wushu Taijiquan, will be held from September 3 (Wed) to 7 (Sun), 2025. This year's championships will be held in Brasilia, Brazil, and six Japanese athletes will compete. Compared to the international competitions held in previous years, this year's event will be held in a more distant location, which means that funds are needed to send the athletes abroad. We have decided to launch this crowdfunding project in order to take on this global challenge together with everyone who supports Wushu Taijiquan.

Reason for taking on this challenge

We do not just want to raise money, but we also want to share our thoughts on the challenge and its journey, and to spread awareness of Wushu Taijiquan and the value of Wushu that lies beyond the competition.

About the cost burden

While there are cases in which subsidies are provided when participating in other tournaments, this year's tournament will require participants to bear the cost of their own expenses. In addition, since the competition will be held farther away than in previous years, travel expenses will be higher than in the past. In addition to the athletes who will be participating in the tournament, the cost of accommodation for the support staff and the purchase of necessary equipment during the trip will be borne by the athletes as well.

About the Japanese athletes participating in this year's competition

The Japanese delegation to participate in this year's tournament consists mainly of young athletes, and we believe that their success will be very important for the future development of wushu taijiquan in Japan. The top finishers of this year's competition will be eligible to participate in the 4th Wushu Taijiquan World Cup to be held in 2026.

*Future International Competitions

As major international competitions continue to be held, including the Asian Games to be held in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, next year following this year's competition, each challenge will lead to the growth of the athletes who will lead the future, and furthermore, to the possibility of creating the future of Wushu Taijiquan.
