Call for Artists｜Experience Art by Staying with It

FIVE TABLE BREWS, LLC (Head Office: Sumida, Tokyo; Representative: Kentaroh Matsui) has launched a new art exhibition initiative titled Sasayuri Artist-in-House, at its fully private guesthouse, Sasayuri Hotel Tokyo.

This project is designed to merge the experience of staying in a unique accommodation with the appreciation of art. We hope it will serve as a new kind of exhibition opportunity, particularly for emerging and local artists.

Applications are open until August 31, 2025. Selected artists will have their works displayed permanently in the guesthouse, offering travelers the rare experience of spending time with art—not just viewing it.

About Sasayuri Hotel Tokyo and the Project

Located in Higashi-Mukojima, Sumida City, Tokyo—within walking distance of Tokyo Skytree—Sasayuri Hotel Tokyo is a renovated two-story wooden house originally built in the early Heisei era. The house is now operated as a private, single-group-only guesthouse.

Through the Sasayuri Artist-in-House project, we open this intimate living space to artists as an exhibition venue. The concept is not to "display" art in a conventional way, but to create a setting where guests can live alongside artworks during their stay.

While art reproductions are currently on display, we now aim to feature original works. The intention is to foster a quiet, reflective interaction between guests and artwork—allowing art to be experienced slowly and personally.

This initiative also supports artists who may have limited access to traditional gallery opportunities. We envision this project as a form of cultural support and platform for expression. In the future, we may open parts of the property as a gallery-like space and explore deeper connections with the local creative community, creating a natural intersection between travel and art.

If a guest wishes to purchase a work, we will assist with direct coordination between the artist and buyer.

Sasayuri Artist-in-House Application Guidelines

- Eligibility:

  Artists with a connection to Sumida City or those creating works around the themes of travel or movement

- Accepted Media:

  Two-dimensional works such as photography, painting, or illustration (up to A1 size).

  Other formats may be considered upon discussion.

- Exhibition Location:

  Shared areas of the guesthouse, including the living room and staircase walls.

  Final placement will be determined in consultation with the artist.

- Exhibition Duration:

  Minimum of three months of continuous display

- Fees:

  There is no exhibition fee or artist payment.

  If a guest expresses interest in a work, the organizer will facilitate direct communication for possible purchase.

- Important Notes:

  As the artwork will be exhibited in a fully active guesthouse, please understand that it may be touched or viewed closely by guests. Artists are responsible for any insurance if required.
