Crowdfunding for Disaster Rescue Dog "Kamino" 6th Year Anniversary until February 1 (Sat)! Seeking support for disaster rescue dog training expenses
特定非営利活動法人 日本レスキュー協会
The Japan Rescue Association (located in Itami City, Hyogo Prefecture), a non-profit organization, breeds disaster rescue dogs to search for missing persons in times of disaster. To commemorate the 6th birthday of our rescue dog "Kamino" on February 1, we have launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for his training.
We are sincerely looking forward to your support to help us celebrate Camino's birthday, as he is training every day to be ready for any emergency!

Disaster Rescue Dog Kamino
0Background of Establishment
On January 17, 1995, 6,434 precious lives were lost in the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. At that time, many disaster rescue dogs were rushed from overseas, but it took time to be accepted due to lack of recognition, leaving many problems in operation. If disaster rescue dogs that could quickly find missing persons had been able to work immediately, some lives might have been saved. This lesson made us realize the importance of disaster rescue dogs, and on September 1 of the same year, our association was established.
0Outline of Activities
Based on the philosophy of "contributing to society with dogs," we are engaged in three main activities: the training and dispatch of "disaster rescue dogs," the training and dispatch of "therapy dogs," and "animal welfare," which includes the protection and transfer of dogs that would otherwise be put down and the raising of awareness about pet disaster prevention.

About Disaster Rescue Dogs
Disaster rescue dogs are dogs trained to find missing people who have been trapped under rubble and sand caused by natural disasters.
Using their excellent sense of smell, the dogs are able to search for unspecified people in a relatively short time in places and over a wide area where people cannot see them. In order to protect precious lives, we continue to train and dispatch disaster rescue dogs in preparation for disasters that may occur anywhere and at any time.

Training of Disaster Rescue Dogs
80% of the disaster rescue dogs that work at disaster sites are bred by private organizations, and are trained for about 3 to 4 years from around 3 months of age.
It costs about 300,000 yen per year to train one disaster rescue dog, including food, medical expenses, and equipment. Although it takes a lot of time and money to train a dog, the percentage of dogs that are able to work in the field as disaster rescue dogs is very narrow (about 30-40%), even after repeated training, and new dogs must be constantly trained.
However, there is almost no financial support from the government for the training of disaster rescue dogs, and our activities are made possible by your donations.
How your support will be used
Your donation will be used carefully to pay for the training of disaster rescue dogs (food, medical expenses, training expedition expenses, etc.).
(Examples of expenses)
Medical expenses: Rabies vaccination (per dog): approx. 3,000 yen / Mixed vaccination (per dog): approx. 8,000 yen
Food: Monthly food expenses (for 9 dogs): approx. 40,000 yen
