[Nagasaki] Japanese Culture Club Opens in Minamiyamate, Nagasaki City

A room in an old house in Minamiyamate, Nagasaki with a view of the slope road and the sea. In July 2025, we will open "Hoshindo Minamiyamate Annex (hereafter, Minamiyamate Annex)" as a place to practice incorporating Japanese culture into daily life.

The Minami-Yamate Annex will not only be a place to encounter and experience Japanese culture, but will also be a gathering place for people who value Japanese culture, with membership-based cultural classes as the core activity to infuse Japanese culture into their lifestyles through regular practice and lessons.

Prior to the opening in July, in May and June, we will invite Mr. Kiyoshi Yoshitani, a Noh drummer of the Kinshun School (holder of the Comprehensive Designation of Important Intangible Cultural Property), to hold hands-on Noh and Kinshun School drumming classes on the following dates.

Kiyoshi Yoshitani

Kiyoshi Yoshitani is a drummer of the Kinshun School of Nohgaku. Lives and works in Fukuoka City. He actively performs with other genres such as jazz and Okinawan min'yo, and is also active in creative activities. He spent his childhood in Sasebo City. He has been teaching taiko classes in Nagasaki, but temporarily stopped after the Corona disaster, and plans to open a new training hall in July 2025 in the Minami-Yamate Annex. He is the holder of the General Designation of Important Intangible Cultural Asset.
